RESPONSIBILITY:
The Feeder Packer position is responsible for feeding and packing blanks, hand packing and sorting cartons. Responsibilities are rotated among feeder/packers depending on job needs. Feeder/packers will check for quality defects including contamination of product and notify the Operator or Supervisor of any quality issues throughout the performance of their job duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes but not limited to the following.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Removes blanks from a pallet, checking for quality of product and placing them into the feed hopper of gluing machine maintaining the hopper at proper load heights.
Responsible for observing the blanks flowing through the machine, to identify quality issues or detect jam-ups, and to alert the Operator of problems or stop the machine.
Communicates with Operator before a new pallet of blanks is needed in order to maintain adequate blanks in the hopper ensuring run speeds are consistent and efficient.
Fills corrugated cases (boxes) with the proper case count by picking up the blanks and placing them uniformly into the case ensuring proper fit and notifying the Supervisor of any issues.
Maintains quality standards by learning defective characteristics for products, sorting defective parts and communicating with Machine Operator, Supervisor and Quality Control staff.
Works with team to improve operations, reduce waste, maintain lean manufacturing goals and requirements, answer questions, and communicate with other staff as needed.
Packs cartons according to work order instructions by verifying counts, weighing cartons, and following job ticket and labeling instructions.
Feeder Packers will cross train with different machines and work multiple areas as business needs arise.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Safety minded, able and willing to understand and follow all written and oral instructions and comply with all company policies and procedures
Comprehends written (English) sentences and paragraphs in work related documents; know how to use/read scales, etc
Regular attendance and reporting for work on time are necessary requirements
Availability / flexibility for overtime work is necessary
Occasional Saturday work may be required; working on another shift may be required
Must be conscientious and willing to assume responsibility
Takes initiative and maximizes time to ensure efficiencies

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
