This new position will be the main point of contact for hundreds of thousands of people who come to Oxbow every year. We are building a new welcome center, where you would greet visitors, orient them to the park, conduct sales transactions, and support the park's rangers and operations supervisor. For many who come to Oxbow, it is the first introduction to Metro's unique regional park system. We manage 17,000 acres of voter-protected land across greater Portland, with a focus on protecting clean water, restoring fish and wildlife habitat, and connecting people with nature close to home.

To do this job, you should enjoy communicating with people, making sure their needs are met and creating a great first impression. You would play an important role in our commitment to offering safe, friendly destinations where all visitors feel welcome. While not a requirement, the ability to speak a second language is preferred. To keep things running at Oxbow, organization and computer skills are important, too. Many day-to-day requests would come from the Oxbow park team. You would report directly to the administrative supervisor for Metro's Parks and Nature Department and work closely with the guest relations coordinator at Blue Lake Regional Park.

You would report to Oxbow with occasional meetings at Blue Lake or the Metro Regional Center. You also need to have a flexible schedule, with some variation between summer and winter months. Essential Job Duties:

Manages shelter and group camp reservations at Oxbow Regional Park.

Maintains and uses a purchasing card. Reconciles purchase card orders for Oxbow supervisor and rangers.
Coordinates project and program activities. May assist with mailings and other communications.
Manages and updates office lists and supports end-of-month tracking and statistics.
Assists with scheduling facility use, appointments and meetings as requested.
In peak season, supports the rangers at the entrance fee booth and checks in reserved campers and updates reservation information.
Processes invoices and reviews cash reports.

Works in a safe manner and follows safety policies, practices and procedures.
Works assigned schedule and exhibits regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Requirements:
Two years of administrative, customer service and problem-solving experience, a high school diploma or G.E.D.; or any combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the desired knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the job.

First Aid/CPR certification required within 6 months of hire. Valid driver's license and personal transportation required.
