At ODOT Region 1 HQ, located in downtown Portland, we are recruiting for quality control engineer for our project design team. The person in this position will: Provide quality control reviews for capital improvement projects delivered in-house. Assist in constructability reviews to assure projects are biddable and buildable. Solicit consultant services for quality control reviews including preparation of RFPs, review and screen responses, negotiate scopes of work, coordinate with procurement office to issue contracts and task orders, and manage the consultant services. Mentor other designers and staff in quality control reviews.
Region 1 provides builds, operates, and maintains the multi-modal transportation system serving the Portland metropolitan area. The Region 1 Technical Center creates plans, specifications, and estimates for an annual in-house project-delivery construction volume of approximately $40 million.

Lead constructability review team.
Review local agency PS&E and development permit applications.
Prepare requests for proposals for and manage QC consultants.
Review bid tab results with specification writers.
Provide construction support.
Develop and deliver quality control training workshops.
Qualifications, Required & Requested Skills

Minimum Qualifications:
A valid professional engineer's (PE) license in civil, structural, or transportation-related engineering.

Special Qualifications:
Driving is an essential function of this position. A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s).
